L'Anse Creuse Board Appoints Treasurer

The board made the unanimous decision Monday night during a regularly scheduled meeting.

L’Anse Creuse Public Schools Board of Education unanimously voted Monday night to appoint Charles Eslinger, filling a vacancy left by Treasurer Jeffrey DiPascale, according to the district. The decision comes after the school board interviewed five candidates for the position that expires Dec. 31, 2014.  “All five candidates were remarkable people and would have brought something unique and special to the board,” Board President Kenneth Hoover said in a prepared statement. “However, in the end, Mr. Eslinger’s previous experience is instrumental to the hard work that lies ahead.” Eslinger was a L'Anse Creuse board member from November 2007 to December 2012. Macomb Community College Recognizes Graduates

Nearly 1,500 Macomb Community College students graduated Friday. What advice would you give graduates from Macomb, and other colleges and universities?

Macomb Community College recognized the accomplishments of approximately 1,500 students Friday who received associate degrees at commencement exercises at the Macomb Sports & Expo Center in Warren. Carissa Greenhow, 21, of Detroit, was the the Most Distinguished Graduate at the college's 89th commencement exercises. Clinton Township Business Owner Sponsors Scholarship

The owner of Great Dane Heating & Air Conditioning recently presented St. Clair Shores Lake Shore senior Matt Romanowski with the Shorians' first Academics, Citizenship and Team (ACT) scholarship.

Lake Shore senior football player Matt Romanowski is the first recipient of Shorians' Academics, Citizenship and Team award sponsored by Great Dane Heating & Air Conditioning of Clinton Township. Romanowski, who holds a 3.85 grade point average and will be attending Greensboro College next year, was honored Tuesday and received the $500 check from Great Dane owner Josh Bigelow. "The community has helped us so much, it is the least we could do give back to the community," said Bigelow, a St. Clair Shores resident and Clinton Township business owner. "For me to give back to the community, it just seemed like the right place to start." Bigelow also has a niece in who attend the high school, and his daughter is in seventh grade at Kennedy …
