The weekend-long comic convention starts Friday in Novi. Are you going?
Motor City Comic Con, Michigan’s original comic convention, celebrates its 24th anniversary Friday to Sunday at Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi. Attendees will be absorbed into comic culture when seeing and meeting comic icons, shopping for comic merchandise and checking out what's new in the artist alley. Convention-goers will see comic characters come to life from participants of the adult and children costume contests, as well as enthusiastic fans. Are you going to Comic Con? May is National Bike Month in which the public is encouraged to keep cyclists' safety in mind.
With warm weather upon us, Macomb County drivers are encouraged to keep biker safety in mind. May is National Bike Month and this week is Bike to Work Week. Although the county claims trails for cyclists and runners, including the Macomb Orchard Trail and Metro Parkway non-motorized path, bikers' rights are also crucial alongside roads. To promote awareness, the Michigan Department of Transportation shared YouTube videos, which are attached, on the subject. Where do you bike in Clinton Township? Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Sander Levin and Congresswoman Candice Miller, who each represent Macomb County communities, share their opposing responses to the actions in Washington D.C.
Sharing their opposing views to The Patients' Rights Repeal Act, Sander Levin and Candice Miller argued their opinions on the controversial debate through public statements this week. Levin and Miller each represent Metro Detroit communities, including several that span throughout Macomb County. The House majority voted Thursday to repeal Obamacare—formally known as the Affordable Care Act. Many expect it will not pass in the Democratic-controlled Senate. Two men were arrested Tuesday after one of them allegedly pointed a handgun at another driver during a road rage incident in Macomb Township, police said Thursday. At approximately 6:47 p.m., Macomb County Sheriff's deputies said they were called to the Hall and Hayes area after a motorist reported someone waved a handgun at him. They pulled over a 19-year-old Shelby Township man and his 20-year-old passenger from Virginia Beach, VA in the Hayes and 21 Mile area. When deputies approached the GMC Denali, they smelled marijuana. The men denied having a handgun, but when deputies searched the vehicle, they found a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson in the center console, the Sheriff's Office reports.
