Pietryka Rolls to Bowling Title for Chippewa Valley

Senior claims state title by bowling over the competition at state finals in Muskegon.

Jeff Pietryka made a statement at the individual bowling state championship.

A senior at Chippewa Valley High School, Pietryka rolled through the competition on March 2 at Norway Lanes in Muskegon to claim the state title.

Pietryka started the finals by qualifying 13th with a score of 1,225.

He then advanced in head-to-head play by defeating Kevin Craft of Eisenhower 405-378; Jacob Kersten of Clarkston 404-331; Brad Wozniak of Traverse City Central 377-368; and Alex Zarbaugh of Belleville 368-368 (49-40 in a roll-off).

Pietryka finished third at the regional tournament at Five Star Lanes in Sterling Heights on Feb. 23.

A captain for Chippewa Valley, Pietryka helped his team win the MAC Red Division dual-meet championship.

Pietryka also plays baseball for Chippewa Valley.
