The Memory Room Opens for Business with Family-Friendly New Year’s Eve

The new Clinton Township venue will open prematurely Dec. 31 to offer local families a place to ring in 2013 with music, dancing and a sparkling juice toast at midnight.

The Memory Room won’t officially open its doors until Jan. 7, but families are invited to ring in the New Year with a special celebration at the venue Dec. 31.

“It’s something different for families to do instead of just sitting at home,” said owner Dana-Marie Serio. “They can be out in an entertainment atmosphere. I think the kids would really love that. I know my children will be here and they’ll love it.”

Unlike many other parties set to take place at bars and restaurants across Clinton Township on New Year’s Eve, The Memory Room’s bash will be geared toward kids.

“We’ll have the crazy blowers and the hats and all the goodies and surprises for the kids throughout the night,” Serio, herself a mother of two, said.

When the kids aren’t rocking out on the dance floor to their favorite tunes, they can have their faces painted or sit down to pizza and pop.

As midnight approaches, the DJ will lead a countdown and families will be offered sparkling juice to toast the New Year. Serio said there is absolutely no alcohol allowed at the event.

Tickets are $20 per person and must be purchased in advance by calling The Memory Room at 586-935-7010. Dec. 28 is the last day to order tickets.

“It’s something different for the kids a great way for the family to bring in the New Year with a party like never before,” Serio said.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. for the New Year’s Eve bash and officially for birthdays, showers and weekday family fun on Jan. 7.

A combination family-fun center and banquet hall, The Memory Room is designed to serve two different purposes for one key audience – middle class families who have a limited budget for entertainment.

“I’ve had this in my mind and heart for long time,” Serio said, in a previous interview with Patch. “I hope people get the word and come and check it out. It’s just about being with family. I’m going on a whim and hopefully I succeed.”

Once open, the venue will feature a variety of entertainment such as kids’ karaoke, dancing, face painting, video games, arcade games and a bounce house.

The Memory Room is located at 20690 Hall Road, in the Pointe Village Square shopping mall at the southeast corner of Hall and Heydenreich roads.
