Student Artists Add Color to Festival of the Senses With Vibrant Posters

Dozens of brightly colored posters inspired by this year's festival theme currently line the fence opposite the Clinton Township Civic Center on Romeo Plank Road.

Drawing inspiration from the theme, “Listen to Your Heart,” dozens of student artists are taking part in the sixth annual Festival of the Senses this weekend by contributing vibrantly painted panels for display along Romeo Plank Road.

Each year, junior and senior high school students from area art programs are invited to contribute their talent to the festival. This year, students from the Boys & Girls Club of South East Michigan, L’Anse Creuse High School North, Fraser High School and Mount Clemens High School took part, painting a series of brightly-colored panels depicting their interpretation of the festival theme – listen to your heart.

The panels currently line the fence opposite the Civic Center on Romeo Plank Road and will be judged by festival-goers and official festival judges during the two-day event. The winners will be awarded monetary prizes in a variety of categories.

As in years past, these panels will go toward the creation of next year's official Festival of the Senses poster.

The 2012 Festival of the Senses takes place Sept. 22-23 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Civic Center grounds. It will feature more than 100 artists and entertainers, vintage baseball games, a dog parade, food and more.
