Clinton Twp. Driver Downs Utility Pole, Severs Phone System at Macomb Town Hall

A drunken driving accident Wednesday night downed one of the utility poles that provides phone service to Macomb Township Town Hall.

A 25-year-old Clinton Township woman was behind the wheel of the car that knocked over a utility pole and severed phone service Wednesday night to Macomb Township Town Hall.

The woman swerved off 25 Mile Road between Lucthman and Broughton roads just after 6 p.m. Wednesday, hitting a utility pole that provides phone service to Town Hall, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.

The woman, who registered a .21 blood alcohol content, suffered minor injuries and was arrested for operating while intoxicated, first offense.

Crews are currently on site working to repair the pole and restore service to Town Hall. It is unknown at this time when phone service will be restored to the Town Hall.
