Three Face Murder Charges in Alleged Drug Deal Gone Bad

A Clinton Township man who was stabbed Nov 16 while allegedly buying marijuana was removed from life support and died last week.

Three people have been charged with second-degree murder in the Dec. 2 death of a 33-year-old Clinton Township man in what investigators are describing as a drug deal gone bad.

Belinda Jones, 43; her son, Deangelo Jones, 21; and Donald Roberts, 20, are being held in the Macomb County Jail, the Detroit Free Press reports. All three suspects are Clinton Township residents.

Township police allege the victim, James Edward Williams, 33, was buying marijuana during a Nov. 16 encounter on Lipke, south of 15 Mile and east of Gratoit, when he was ripped off by one of the suspects.

Police have not released the name of person who allegedly stabbed Williams, who died of his injuries last week when he was removed from life support at McLaren Macomb Hospial in Mt. Clemens.

Preliminary exams for the three suspects are scheduled for Dec. 18 in 41-B District Court in Clinton Township.
