Motorcyclist Dies in I-94 Crash in Harrison Township

The Macomb County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the fatal accident.

A 62-year-old motorcyclist died Tuesday night after crashing into a sign on eastbound I-94 near North River Road in Harrison Township, police said Wednesday.

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office identified the man as Steven Bowden of China Township.  

Witnesses told police that two motorcyclists were traveling together around 8:30 p.m. when both riders tried exiting the freeway at North River Road at the same time. Bowden's 2010 Harley Davidson then ran off the exit ramp, striking a directional arrow sign to the left, according to the Sheriff's Office.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident. 

Bowden, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mount Clemens, where he was pronounced dead, the Sheriff's Office.

The crash remains under investigation.
