Drilled Gas Tanks Cost Township $1,900; Man Snorting Coke in Mall Parking Lot Deported

Drilled gas tanks cause $1,900 worth of damage to township vehicles

Sometime between 8 p.m. Aug. 28 and 8 a.m. Aug 29, someone drilled the gas tank of a GMC Safari owned by the township and parked by the maintenance building in George George Memorial Park, according to police.

The filter area of a 300-gallon gas storage container was also drilled. The cost to repair the damage to the GMC Safari was $429, according to police.

Sometime between 8 p.m. Sept. 4 and 8 p.m. Sept. 12, someone drilled the gas tanks on a 2001 Dodge pickup and Plymouth Voyager belonging to the township, according to police.

The cost to repair the damage was $796 and $682, respectively.

Although these incidents occurred in late August and early September, these reports were not made after police announced they had arrested a 22-year-old Clinton Township man in connection with several reports of punctured gas tanks in the area of Romeo Plank and Canal.

Police say it is possible the same man was responsible for all of these incidents.

2 men caught with cocaine in Partridge Creek lot, one deported

On Sept. 16, at approximately 4:14 p.m., security in The Mall at Partridge Creek caught two individuals snorting what appeared to be cocaine in the mall parking lot, according to police.

Police were called to the scene and the two men, ages 30 and 32, were arrested for possession of cocaine. One of the individuals was deported, according to police.

Attempted shoplifter caught with shirts, socks, bra and shaving items

On Sept. 16, at approximately 6:27 p.m., a 54-year-old man was arrested for retail fraud at the Meijer on Groesbeck after attempting to shoplift several items of clothing, according to police.

Loss prevention specialists saw the man put two Tigers’ T-shirts down his pants and three packages of socks in his shirt before concealing a woman’s bra, razors and shaving cream on other parts of his body, according to the police report.

The man attempted to leave without paying and was detained.

Police say the man had prior arrests for retail fraud.

Man arrested for shoplifting had knives in pockets

On Sept. 16, at approximately 2:27 p.m., a 56-year-old man was arrested at the Groesbeck Kroger for retail fraud after he attempted to shoplift several items from the store, according to police.

Employees saw the man pushing a cart containing peaches and green onions, with several other items concealed under a store paper. Before leaving the store, the man also took several candy bars. He did not attempt to pay for the items, according to the police report.

When loss prevention specialists confronted the man, he put his hands in his pockets where two knives were concealed. The man did not attempt to use the knives during the confrontation, according to the police report.

Police say the man had prior arrests for retail fraud.

Man caught leaving Nordstrom with $300 worth of unpaid shirts

On Sept. 16, at approximately 6:51 p.m., a 53-year-old man was arrested for retail fraud at Nordstrom in The Mall at Partridge Creek after attempting to shoplift two Burberry shirts, according to police.

Loss prevention specialists saw the man enter a fitting room with six shirts, but only emerge with four. The man was detained and found with the two shirts, worth approximately $300, on his person, according to the police report.

Police say the man had prior arrests for retail fraud.
