The Home Depot Foundation Awards Macomb County Habitat for Humanity with Generous Gift of $9,000!

Macomb County Habitat for Humanity has been awarded a grant totaling $9000.00 from The Home Depot Foundation.  This grant is geared specifically towards Macomb Habitat’s “Hometown Hero” Program.

“The Home Depot Foundation is committed to ensuring that every veteran has a safe place to call home,” said Kelly Caffarelli, President of The Home Depot Foundation. “We are proud to work with Macomb County Habitat for Humanity in our efforts to give back to those men and women who have so bravely served our country.”

The “Hometown Hero” Program was created to help veterans throughout Macomb County.  Veterans throughout the county are nominated to be part of the program and a veteran has been chosen by a committee of volunteers and Habitat employees.  Requirements to be nominated into the program are that the person must be a deserving veteran or someone who is still serving active duty, which is in need of exterior repairs to their home.  The nomination period will begin once the first project is completed.

Macomb County Habitat for Humanity’s Executive Director, Helen Hicks stated, “Home Depot is a corporation who looks beyond its profitable bottom line into the windows of the hearts and homes of those Macomb Habitat serves.  Such a large donation to support a Hometwon Hero is unexpected, but deeply appreciated.”
