Weekend Planner: Holiday Concert, College Preparation Course, World AIDS Day

Preparing Students for College

  • When: 9 a.m. Saturday
  • Where: 20 S Main St, Mount Clemens
  • Cost: Free
  • Why Go: If you have a high school student in your household, head over to Oakland University's Anton/Frankel Center on Saturday for a college readiness event, so that your students can stay informed on everything they need to know before they enter college.

Community-Wide World AIDS Day Observance

  • When: 10 a.m. Saturday
  • Where: 15000 W 10 Mile Rd, Oak Park
  • Cost: Free
  • Why Go: Join the community for this special event. The NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt and a Remembrance of Names will be shared during the service. Fellowship and music from the Bel Canto Choral Society will accompany the event. Refreshments will be provided.

Visit Santa

  • When: All weekend (check your local mall for specific times)
  • Where: Oakland Mall, Somerset Mall, Lakeside Mall, Macomb Mall
  • Cost: Free
  • Why Go: Take your kids to see the jolly old man! Get an adorable picture and a goody bag, as your little ones get to tell Santa what's on the top of their wish lists this year.

"Glorious Sounds" Holiday Concert

  • When: 4 p.m. Sunday
  • Where: St. Paul of Tarsus Catholic Church
  • Cost: $15/adult, $12/students and seniors, $30/family
  • Why Go: Get into the holiday spirit by relaxing to the music of Conductor Susan Catanese and the Cantata Academy Chorale during this holiday concert which will present selections from the Rutter Gloria and Vivaldi Gloria featuring a guest brass ensemble and many holiday favorites.
