Several local high school marching bands will compete in this year's Chippewa Valley High School SMB Invitational. Bands are scored on Music Performance, Marching Performance, Percussion and Auxiliary.
Scholastic Marching Band contests use a four judge scoring system, two music totaling 60 points (30 music performance / 30 music effect) and two visual totaling 40 points (20 performance / 20 effect). There are captions for Auxiliary and Percussion, 20 points each. Their score is not counted in the overall scoring but used for best in class and for Achievement of Excellence awards.

More About Chippewa Valley High School
Chippewa Valley High School offers a comprehensive education as a public high school in Clifton Township as part of the Chippewa Valley School District. It is one of the three schools in the district. The school completed renovations in 2012 and received new locker rooms, 50,000 square feet of carpeting, refinished gym floors, new sidewalk and a state-of-the-art fabrication lab for the district's new computer-aided design programs. Its principal is Jerry Davisson.
