Macomb Judge Dismisses Lawsuit Against DIA

The plaintiffs said they filed the lawsuit against the Detroit museum after they were charged for an exhibit.

A Macomb County Circuit Court judge on Wednesday dismissed a lawsuit filed by five county residents against the Detroit Institute of Arts, according to court records. Plaintiffs Simon Haddad of Clinton Township, Leon Drolet of Macomb Township, Judy and Dennis Buchholtz of Warren and Philis DeSaele of Sterling Heights alleged in the lawsuit they were denied free admission Dec. 1 to the Faberge exhibit—which they contend violated terms of a tri-county millage. Judge John Foster's opinion, including the denial to amend their pleadings, means the case is closed, the Detroit Free Press reported. According to the Art Institute Service Agreement between the Macomb County Art Institute Authority and the DIA, the museum would provide "unlimited, …

Here we have a Director helping himself to a salary and benefit package just south of half a million per year that we now subsidize. Kristin Chenoweth Movie Filmed at a Home of a Clinton Township Dentist to Hit the Big Screen

The lakeside home of a Clinton Township dentist will be featured prominently in the movie "Family Weekend" that was filmed in Macomb County and will shown on the big screen in Birmingham this weekend.

Many Macomb County public and private locations were used in the filming of Family Weekend two years ago, and this weekend these landmarks and hundreds of local extras will get their time on big screen this weekend for a limited engagement showing of the movie at the Birmingham 8 theater. One of the locations where the movie was shot included waterfront home of a Clinton Township dentist. “It was a great experience for our whole family.  Everyone associated with the movie was a pleasure to deal with,” said homeowner Christopher Press, who lives in Harrison Township. “I have only seen bits of the movie so far but from what I can tell, our community is realistically represented.” The movie starring Kristin Chenoweth and Matthew Modine was …

Huey Lewis and the News, Ratt Among New Acts Playing Freedom Hill

Additional acts including Huey Lewis and the News, Ratt and Creedence Clearwater Revisited have been added to the new season at Freedom Hill Amphitheatre in Sterling Heights.

Three new acts have been announced for Freedom Hill Amphitheatre in Sterling Heights. Tickets can be purchased at www.freedomhill.net or by phone at 888-929-7849.  Late last year it was was announced the 7,200-seat facility would be reopening. The first act signed to play Freedom Hill Amphitheatre was Grammy-winning band Lady Antebellum.
